The Dupont State Forest is perfect for horseback trail rides, mountain biking, hiking and exploring many nearby waterfalls. The only place in the world to see the Blue Ghost Moths is here in the heart of the Dupont Forest. Thousands vie for limited passes to come at night in the Dupont to see the wonder of the Blue Ghost Moths, who are visible only during their mating season. No pass is needed for those staying at Hummingbird Cottage, as you are able to experience their wonder on the paths of our property.Late September through mid October brings the color of fall to the forest. Hummingbird cottage is nestled in the heart of the forest and surrounded by nature's beauty as the leaves change from deep green to vivid yellows, oranges and reds. Enjoy lovely walks through nature's wonder on crisp afternoons and snuggle next to the fire in the evening. Winter is a wonderful time to visit the cottage. The forest is quiet, especially after a snowfall. With the underbrush clear, hiking the forest in the winter is particularly interesting as you can see so many things that are hidden in the full bounty of summer. The cottage is snug, seclued and warm.
