Timber-frame home on 96 acres with view of White Mountains Our off-grid solar home is located on 96 acres 3 miles from Peacham Vermont, (arguably Vermont’s most photographed village.) It is quiet and remote, yet close to amenities in Danville, Montpelier and St. Johnsbury. There is hiking on the property, and we are close to Groton State Forest, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, and forty minutes from Burke bicycle trails. That’s nice, but you may not want to leave our property as it’s surrounded by a mature forest with a spectacular view of Mount Washington and the New Hampshire’s White Mountains range from the front deck on our meadow. Our home is a 1750 sq ft timber-frame home, efficiently powered by the sun, but with all the amenities including stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer, TV, Sonos Music and fully connected to the internet with Starlink. There is a gravel drive from the main road with parking for three cars. Downstairs are full kitchen and sitting room, living/dining room with a teak table that seats eight, a full bath with shower, mud/laundry room, and foyer. Upstairs are two bedrooms; a master with a queen bed, a guest bedroom with a queen bed, an activity room with TV and a full bath with tub and shower. The house has large windows throughout to take advantage of the views of the gardens and forest, and a four-hundred sq. ft. deck facing our meadow and the White Mountains. If needed, heat is provided by a gas wall heater, as our woodstoves cannot be used by renters according to our insurance company. There are many opening windows and glass doors with screen doors, but there is no air conditioning. We provide fans throughout the house for use during warm days. There is a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs facing the mountains to the Southeast; a perfect place to watch sunrises, and the moon rising over the meadow.Guests have full use of our home and the surrounding 96 acres (read extremely quiet) hiking on the property, and our extensive library for evening reading. Located within an easy drive are Dog Mountain, Museum of Everyday Living, Hill Farmstead Brewery, Old Stone House, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory (with tours), Billings Farm and Museum, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, King Arthur Café/Store/Baking School, Simon Pearce Restaurant and Mill, and the tourist towns of Woodstock and Stowe.
