Beautiful Cottage at Bear Paw on Lake Hiawassee LOCATION:The Flying Squirrel cottage is an amazing custom built home located in Bear Paw, a gated community on Lake Hiawassee, in southwestern North Carolina. Lake Hiawassee is located just West of Murphy, North Carolina, and is surrounded by the Nantahala forest. It is less than 30 minutes away from either Georgia or Tennessee and offers both conveniences to many area attractions, and the privacy to relax and enjoy swimming, boating, and other water sports.OUR HOUSE: Our cottage was planned with thoughtfulness to every detail for the comfort of our guests. It sleeps 8 and offers three bedrooms with three full baths. The master suite is located on the main level and features a queen size bed and a private bath with a tub/shower combination. Also on this level is an open concept living room, dining room, and kitchen designed for comfortable relaxation and entertaining. Our well appointed kitchen with counter seating for four, as well as dining room table with seating for six accommodates larger families. The chef’s kitchen has all high end appliances and a huge island for prep, seating, and entertaining. Upstairs there are two en suite bedrooms, and a laundry room with a new LG stackable washer/dryer. There are also a beautiful front porch with a fire table and a bed swing. And the back deck is furnished with a brand new gas grill and seating for 4-6 in a treehouse like setting. There are lots of cozy areas throughout the house for reading, relaxing and enjoying the view.On the terrace level there is a large bedroom with a king size bed and another full bath. We also provide a queen size pullout couch and a twin daybed on this level. On this level you will also find toys, games, puzzles, and a large hdtv TV for movies. These smart TVs also include Disney plus, Netflix, HBO, and Showtime. We also provide a PlayStation for video games, a ping pong table, and tennis rackets. There is also a microwave and a Keurig coffee on this level for quick popcorn pops for a movie night, or a morning cup of coffee while relaxing by the gas fireplace. Our home offers the fastest internet available in the area, but please be advised that is probably not as fast as you used to, it can also at times be spotty given that it is a rural setting, so please do know this up front. We can also not guarantee internet since the property is located in a rural internet service area. We do have cell service at the house, but do know the surrounding area or in other places within Bear Paw texts and phone usage may be limited. THINGS TO DO: Our house offers spectacular mountain views. And it is a quick three minute jaunt to the Marina where you can rent a boat, use one of our kayaks, or bring up a boat of your own! Amenities in Bear Paw include a tennis court, basketball court, swimming pool, playground and fishing pond all near the pavilion. At the Marina there is also a store that offers basic items you might have forgotten, like sunscreen, toothbrush, deodorant, bug spray, etc. There is also 24 hour security for the entire property.There is so much to do within Bear Paw, but there are also numerous opportunities for fun and adventures away from the lake. The downtown shops and restaurants have Murphy and Hayesville, as well as Blue Ridge and Hiawasee are about 40-45 minutes away. If water rafting on Nantahala is your style, a 40 minute trip will take you there! Harrah’s Cherokee River Valley casino is a new addition to the area and is a short 40 minute drive away. We are also 40 minutes away from the breweries in Cooperhill, as well as shops and restaurants. Blue Ridge GA is 45 minutes from the property and has more shopping, breweries, and an excellent variety of local restaurants. There is also Mercier Orchards with seasonal apple and berry picking. PETS: Please be advised that this is an animal free property. We cannot make any exceptions in this case. If you are looking for a property within Bear Paw that allows for pets, there are other options available. We apologize if this is an inconvenience; however, the policy will be strictly enforced.GROCERY/RESTAURANTS: Bear Paw resort is about 30 minutes away from Murphy, NC where you will find Ingles grocery store and a Super Walmart. There is no food delivery in this area. The towns of Murphy, Hiawassee, and Blue Ridge all offer great restaurants – from coffee and sandwich shops to casual dining, fantastic barbecue, ice cream, and fine dining. Don’t hesitate to ask us for recommendations! There is also a book at the house with many of the areas attractions and recommendations. We look forward to having you stay!
