The Retreat-Hot Tub-Theater-Bar-6000sqft Summary:The Retreat is not just a "house", it's a destination that offers our guests the perfect spot to gather with their friends and family and have an incredible time without ever leaving home! When Jeff and I designed this house we wanted to create something unique, something that reflected how much we enjoyed life and spending time with our loved ones. We've made soo many special memories in our "fantasy home" and now that we're "empty nester's" we are honored to share it with you!The Space:The space is quite large but it is warm & inviting- it is not stuffy. We want you to feel at home, that means that we've paid special attention to little details...such as cozy throws for chilly mornings, soft luxurious high-end bedding & fluffy towels. It also means having use of everything there. If you're hosting a dinner party, we want you to take advantage of the table linens and candles and make it special. If it's there, you can use it. Don't be afraid to open cupboard doors, etc. The pantry is stocked so you won't have to buy "staples" for a few day getaway, we know how all consuming it can be to travel, especially in groups. You'll have access to all the small appliances (even an ice cream maker/deep fryer). It is really easy to create a magical atmosphere here...dimmable lighting, an abundance of windows that provide a beautiful wooded view, and a great audio system are just some of the things that help with that. The lower level is the ideal entertainment area...you'll find surprises around every corner, it is a highly visual, whimsical delight. There's a S'mores corner with everything you need, an impressive bar with draft beer service and some liquor on the shelves. We follow the take some/leave some rule, so there is no telling what will be available during your stay but there is sure to be something! The house sits on 3 acres and is quite private, neighbors cannot see into the backyard...you are free to play music in the bar, sit by the fire with friends late into the night. Don't be surprised if you see a family of deer in the backyard or one of many owls up in our trees. ***NEW ADDITION- 6TH BEDROOM/4TH FULL BATH REQUIRES TINY CABIN AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA FEE/ADD-ON NOT INCLUDED WITH MAIN HOUSE, SLEEPS UP TO 3 ADDTNL GUESTS. MESSAGE FOR DETAILS.Guest Access:You will have the entire house except for 2 rooms which we keep locked (one is our master bedroom, the other is our home office). The garage will also be locked. Just to be clear- the rooms will be locked, but no one will be in them- your group are the only ones in the house or on the property. ***WE RECENTLY ADDED A TINY CABIN TO OUR PROPERTY WHICH PROVIDES SLEEPING SPACE FOR AN ADDTNL 3 GUESTS (MAIN HOUSE SLEEPS 12). TINY CABIN ADD-ON REQUIRED FOR 6TH BEDROOM/4TH BATH ACCESS***THE RATE IS $150/NIGHT (NO EXTRA FEES). ***THE CABIN IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO GROUPS RENTING THE MAIN HOUSE. THERE WILL NEVER BE MORE THAN 1 "GROUP" AT THE PROPERTY.The Neighborhood:We are in a quiet little residential neighborhood in the awesome town of Fuquay Varina- affectionately known as "The Quay". We love our town! IF you decide to venture out and leave your little slice of heaven, you'll find tons of great restaurants, shops & breweries nearby (about 10 minute drive). We are located less than 25 minutes to Downtown Raleigh & 40 minutes to the Airport (depending on traffic).Getting Around:The neighborhood is good for walking, it is basically a big loop, so while we don't have sidewalks it is perfectly safe for street walking and lit (dimly) at night. The nearest grocery store is less than 5 minutes away by car but we wouldn't suggest walking there (busy 2 lane road). Uber does come out our way...so if your group is flying in (RDU AIrport) you could probably get away with Uber simply because you probably won't want to leave the house much.Other Things to Note:We have a well stocked pantry, you may want to check-in and check things out for yourself before you hit the grocery store for baking goods, rice, pasta, beans, etc. The fridge will have some staples as well. We provide coffee & tea for your mornings. The bar is sure to have liquor on the shelves, you are free to help yourselves, but at the same time, you are also free to leave any behind for the next guests. We will generally have a keg in the kegerator for draft beer however we can't guarantee how much. If it is important to you, check in with us in advance, also if you want to bring your own keg (can accommodate full or baby keg) let us know in advance so we make room for you.***TINY CABIN IN THE FOREST AVAILABLE FOR EXTRA FEE (140/night flat fee)-SLEEPS UP TO 3 PEOPLE*******IMPORTANT***NO STREET PARKING***MAX 6 CARS AT THE PROPERTY***PLEASE MAKE SURE TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE HOUSE RULES PRIOR TO CHECK-IN***Overnight guests are limited to the amount of people reflected in your reservation. If you receive guests, you are permitted a MAXIMUM OF 15 people total, at any given time, unless prior written permission has been granted. Deviation from this rule will result in an automatic $1500 special event fee. ***COVID UPDATE: We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our guests stay safe by cleaning and properly disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in. We have upgraded our cleaning product to a medical-grade intermediate solution and as always, the hot tub is sanitized the morning of your arrival. We want you to feel safe and know that we are taking these preventative measures seriously. We are doing for you what we would want our hosts doing for us if we were the ones traveling.Interaction with Guests:We want to be available to you to answer any questions you may have so that you can take full advantage of your time here. It's a big house with alot of moving parts- some people find it helpful for one of us to meet you at check-in to give you a quick rundown of "how the house works"...others are more comfortable checking-in on their own and calling with any questions. This is YOUR time, you choose and let us know how you want to handle the logistics and we will do our best to serve you.
