Located in the private enclave of Shawangunk Ridge, neighboring the Monhonk Preserve, this house has arguably some of the best lakeside views in the county. The home was recently reimagined by the designer Melissa Anderson of OED, who brought together both the inside and outside, as well as the original charming 1970’s structure and the new modern addition. The house is now a thoughtfully designed family home, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the visual feast outside.Inside, soaring ceilings, huge windows, polished finishes, and many natural elements lend to a sun drenched, calm, environment. The main level has an integrated living room and kitchen area, with a fun nook to the side for reading or playing. This level also has a dining room, powder room, two bedrooms (a king bedroom - with access to the deck - and a queen) and a full bath with shower. The dining room is positioned on the “bridge” that connects the two wings and has views both to the front and back of the house. From here, a small flight of stairs leads to the principal suite. With water views, a private deck, desk area, and a huge bathroom with soaking tub, this part of the house is truly an oasis for any guest.Going down from the dining room are two small sub levels. One is a family orientated area which holds two bedrooms and a large hallway bathroom. The bedroom here has two sets of bunk beds - one with a double bed at the base, the other bedroom has a king size bed, deck access, and a crib. Further down is the media room with generous seating and a large screen television, as well as the laundry area.For dinner, a 8 minute drive into New Paltz will give you as many choices of cuisines as you could find in the city. The small college town is more than just bars and Starbucks; elevated cuisine awaits as well as boutiques, bookstores and a bevy of fun pubs and watering holes. The outside is a huge treat, with many amenities for both family fun and relaxing. A massive deck with a grill, lounge seating and dining offers unobstructed views of the water. The property is terraced, with stone paths connecting the various areas. A simple walkway leads to the hot tub, available all year round. Further down at the waters edge is a patio with large stone fireplace, as well as the dock for launching canoes and kayaks. Like most Upstate Place properties, this home has a permanent crib , highchair, baby bath etc. available to make even the smallest guest’s stay welcoming and easy. Outside is a great play / activity area for the children, as well as an interesting garden and water area.Sparkling Waters would happily suit a few couples, a family, a multi generational family or groups of friends vacationing together. If electric, water or Wi-Fi service is impacted, we do not refund. Of course, if an outage were to persists for longer than 8 hours we would allow a cancellation without penalty. The house has 3 levels and a step up to the entrance, it may not be suitable for those who have difficulty with steps / stairs. However, it does have bedrooms and bathrooms on the main level.Use of the lake, whether swimming or boating, is at your own risk, there are no lifeguards. The water is shallow near the dock and shoreline so please use caution. Absolutely NO DIVING. Use of a life jacket, while using all watercraft, is required for all individuals. All children under 10 are required to wear life jackets at the waters edge or on the docksMake sure all embers are put out in the fireplace and fire pit when going to sleep or leaving the property. Do not leave fires in fire-pit or charcoal grills unattended. Take note of where fire extinguishers are located in each room. CHECK OUT INSTRUCTIONS: • Please make sure you take out the trash, this helps with smells and preventing creatures from wanting to come in to the house. • If used dishes, we ask you place them in the dishwasher and hit start. • Please extinguish all fires and fuels, inside and out, and cover the BBQ once cooled. • In winter, please make sure the heat is turned down to 60* • In summer, please make sure the AC is left at 70* • Upon departure, please make sure all lights are turned off and all exterior doors are locked This house is in a rural environment and surrounded by countryside, farms and wildlife. While it’s wonderful to observe the eagles, deer, bears, and adorable chipmunks, it can also mean you will hear coyotes and foxes at night, and encounter the less cute mice, flies, snakes, ants, bees and ticks. There is very little to be done about it, but by keeping doors closed or screened and food in its appropriate storage, unwelcome guests will stay outside where they belong.
