No short-term stays are available.This sunny, airy mountain home with hot tub is the perfect venue for a group of family or friends to enjoy the mountains. Great craftsmanship in the woodwork, stonework, and spiral hickory staircases, high ceilings. Large, plentiful windows offer views of the snowy trees so you really get the mountain feel. Located in Serene Lakes, just 5-10 minutes drive from Alpine skiing, walk to Nordic skiing. In summer, walk to Lake Dulzura, mountain biking and hiking trails. Located just before the Donner Summit for easy access from the Bay Area--you can skip the traffic over the summit and be on vacation sooner. The Snowflake Chalet is truly special. Custom built in 2006, it features a rustic mountain aesthetic while providing luxurious comfort in over 3200 sqft. Watch the snow fall on the trees from the enormous south-facing windows and decks. Stargaze from the hot tub after a day on the slopes. Stretch out in front of the fireplace in the living room. Curl up with a book in the window seat. Gather around the roomy dining table to enjoy a great meal prepared in the generous, well-equipped chef's kitchen. Have a dance party in the spacious game room (they won't hear you in the living room or bedrooms!). At the end of the day, flannel sheets and down comforters await you. The separate game room and plentiful bedrooms and bathrooms ensure that everyone has room to stretch out and relax. The 2-car garage means no snow and ice scraping when it's time to venture out. Our hydronic heat system keeps the floors warm and the air less dry than traditional heat.The Chalet is located in skiers' heaven! 13 minutes from Sugar Bowl for Alpine skiing and 4 minutes from Royal Gorge for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing (walk 1 block to trails if you already have a pass). Also nearby are Boreal, Soda Springs, Donner Ski Ranch. NorthStar, Palisades, Alpine Meadows, and Tahoe Donner are just a bit further. Our neighborhood sled hill is great for the kiddos, and a mini sled run can be made in the back yard (use our many sleds). In summer enjoy wildflowers, hiking, road and mountain biking right outside the cabin, as we are surrounded by a spectacular trail system. Take a short walk to the Serene Lakes for beach, swimming, canoeing (use ours), kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, (bring yours) and catch-and-release fishing. Visit nearby Donner Lake for motorized boating sports and rental outfits.The Snowflake Chalet has room for 12 people to sleep comfortably (in real beds in rooms with doors). On the entrance level are three bedrooms, a full bathroom, mud room, laundry room and a shady deck with a wooden swing off Bedrooms 2 and 3.-Bedroom 1: queen bed (sleeps 2)-Bedroom 2: queen bed and 1 set bunk beds (sleeps 4)-Bedroom 3: 2 sets bunk beds (sleeps 4)The second floor has an open living room-dining room-large kitchen, a half bath, a sunny deck with hot tub and gas grill, a separate very large game room with ping pong, tv, a balcony and a full bathroom.-Game room: queen-sized futon couch could be made into a bed (there is a door for privacy and the futon mattress has springs and is comfortable). With an en suite full bath, windows in all 4 directions and a lovely balcony, this room functions well as a second master, if desired. (sleeps 2)The master loft on the third floor has one bedroom with a desk nook and a full bathroom with steam bath and twin shower (en suite). For complete privacy, there is a door at the top of the stairs to the loft.-Bedroom 4: queen bed (sleeps 2)
