Small-town hospitality at its best! About this spaceWelcome to your home away from home! We invite you to relax and soak up the peace and quiet in friendly Halstead. Whether you are working away from home, traveling through the area with your family, visiting Kansas, or just needing a staycation, we welcome you!Enjoy the convenience of a grocery store, restaurants, coffeeshop, and bakery within walking distance, and Wichita only 30 minutes away. For traveling nurses, we are only 15 minutes from NMC and just over 30 minutes from the major Wichita hospitals. The cottage is on the corner of two fairly quiet streets. There are three steps up to both outside entry doors.The main floor consists of a living room, kitchen, dining area, king bedroom, queen bedroom, and one bathroom. All bedrooms have memory foam mattresses and luxuriously soft linens. In the full basement, you’ll find the 2nd living area with comfy sofas, an office area, the 3rd bedroom with a twin bunk and a trundle, the 2nd bathroom, and a laundry room, with a washer and dryer, laundry soap and baskets for your use. Basic amenities are provided throughout the house, and the kitchen is fully equipped.Our home is a haven for those who want to unplug and enjoy the simple things in life. There's no TV, so you can spend your time reading, playing games, enjoying the outdoors, or just chatting and reconnecting with each other.The back yard is fenced in and includes a patio with table and chairs and a fire pit seating area. Propane is provided for the grill and fire pit. String lights and rope lighting enhance your evenings in the back yard!A short walk from the house you will find anything you may need during stay. Halstead Market is your friendly small-town grocery store, stocking basic necessities in addition to groceries. Their in-house bakery also serves wonderful cinnamon rolls for your breakfast! Sip a latte at Daphne May Cafe, or stop in for lunch. D'Angelo's Pizza and Peppers Mexican also hit the spot. Troy’s True Value, the hardware store down the street, also boasts a cute gift shop in the building. If you're looking for something to do, walk the dike-top trail on the outskirts of Halstead, or visit the Learning Center for Health and the Halstead Heritage Museum. Enjoy a massage at Harmonious You. In summer, grab a snow cone from the bus on Main Street. For a day trip, visit the Cosmosphere and Strataca Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson, or the zoo, botanical gardens, and Keeper of the Plains in Wichita.The house is near the tracks, so you may get to hear an occasional train passing through. Ear plugs are provided for light sleepers, altho the train noise is usually almost unnoticeable when inside the house. No TV - we want to give you a chance to unplug and reconnect with your loved ones!We want your stay to be all you expect and more. Any questions or requests, let us know!
