Across the reach, you can visit Beals Island the homeland of National Folklore legend Tall Barney Beal. Stop by Beals Heritage Center to learn just how tall and strong he was. Also the Nature's Conservancy has a 5 mile hike located through the woods, at the end of Great Wass Island. Travel an hour east where you can visit West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec America. Watch the lobstermen boating to work each morning while sipping coffee from your deck. Day trips to Acadia Nat’l Park, Bar Harbor, Lubec (the most eastern point in the US), and FDR’s Campabello Island are just a short drive away. Bring a furry friend as the cottage is also a dogs’ paradise.
