Intimate sunny apartment with an ocean view Bird's Nest is an elevated efficiency apartment with sweeping views of Somes Sound, the ocean, the mountains of Acadia National Park, and the lighthouse on Bear Island. At the end of a long winding private driveway Bird's Nest provides a quiet get away for a couple. There is a small efficiency kitchen and a sunny second floor deck to enjoy the view while having a peaceful breakfast or evening meal.Bird's Nest provides a great base from which to explore the trails, mountains, lakes, ponds of the less visited parts of Acadia National Park. Many of the park trail heads and the fresh water beach with great swimming at Echo Lake are less than 2 miles away. We have our own private wooded trail that is a short hike to downtown Southwest Harbor where you can board the free Island Explorer bus and reach the busier side of Mount Desert Island including Bar Harbor and the more visited parts of Acadia such as Thunder Hole and Sand Beach. You can even take a longer ride to the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia.Our trail provides easy access to the small shops and amenities offered in Southwest Harbor. These include dining experiences from cafes and ice cream shops to fine dining.
