Havisham House has two homes on the property... the Carriage House and Main House. We are in the heart of the southern Illinois wine trail, and just a few miles from Bald Knob Cross and amazing hiking/biking trails. Located adjacent to the Carriage House is Havisham Bourbon, Brew & Spirits (food, wine, beer, cocktails & over 300 whiskies in stock). The main floor of this cozy Carriage House offers a bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen and living room. Downstairs has a larger bedroom, full bathroom and an exit to a private outside patio area. Why did we name it "Havisham House"? Have you read Great Expectations by Charles Dickens? Main character, Miss Havisham, lived in the Satis House, a ruined mansion. This property immediately reminded me of this classic novel when we found it in 2015… abandoned and heavily damaged from a severe tornado. (Please see "before" pictures at havishamhouse.com.) Even with its extensive damage, we fell in love with this property and had "great expectations" for its rescue.
