On the Bitterroot River! Hannon House is on the river, under the sky where fishing and outdoor fun come naturally. Hannon House is a 120+ year old farm house in the style of old rural Montana. The lifestyle reflects the character and unique location of this rare piece of history. If you are looking for a taste of old Montana, this is it.This 2 bedroom cottage is located adjacent to the original farmhouse at the historic Hannon homestead on the Bitterroot River, three miles south of Darby, Montana. Settled in the late 1880’s, the farmhouse and grounds sit on the western edge of the Bitterroot River with over 1700 feet of river frontage. Structures on the property date from the 1880's to 1974 including hand hewn logs and milled lumber barns and out buildings. The main house was titled in 1900. This is the site of the area's original mercantile and post office. Bordered by the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains, and situated on the Lewis and Clark trail (really, they walked through the front yard) the house sits in the shadow of Trapper Peak, the highest peak in the Bitterroot Range. The site is located at the confluence of the East fork, West fork and Main branch of the Bitterroot River. This is a taste of old Montana steps from one of the finest native trout streams in the west. This is a working farm including irrigated hay production and garden crops. Accommodations are clean and simple with an emphasis on fly fishing, watersports, hiking, hunting, skiing, open space and relaxation. Hot tub on the back deck under the stars! The site is hosted with the property owners residing on the premises. You are free to explore the grounds, fish the river, participate in activities or find the peace that solitude provides. We are 27 miles from Lost Trail Powder Mountain ski resort. Restaurants and shopping are located within 3 miles in the town of Darby.
