A large, screened front porch facing the “big lake” is the setting for reading, talking, or just watching the weather change. 100 feet of sugar sandy Lake Michigan beach is the site of boating, swimming, or just hiking to the pier and watching sailboats, yachts, and ocean-going tankers come and go. Directly across the street, the Kitchel/Lindquist and Harold Hartger Dune Preserves chronicle beachscape, which allows for peaceful hikes through pines, over marshes, and across protected sand dunes. North Shore Marina is a 5 minute walk from Windy Dune as is the north pier.
