Sky Valley is also Georgia's highest city and is located between Dillard, Ga, and Highlands, NC. Dillard is home to many interesting shops and the famed Dillard House family-style restaurant. Historic Highlands, NC., at an elevation over 4000 ft. is only 6 miles away and is noted for its many upscale shops and restaurants. If you're more adventurous, there's hiking to Rabun Bald at 4696 ft or along the Bartram Trail, or to the bottom of Tallulah Gorge, or white water rafting on the Wild and Scenic Chatooga River, or for a different kind of excitement, Harrah's Cherokee Casino is less than an hour away. You will be within walking distance of the pool, fitness center, pro shop, and a 100 ft drop waterfall. Or, if you want to relax and do nothing, the large, covered deck is perfect for sipping coffee and soaking in the cool, mountain air.Cool Mountain Golfing: The Sky Valley Golf Course was completely rebuilt in 2008 and features bent grass greens, tees, and fairways. With a mean elevation of 3150 ft., it offers some of the coolest playing conditions in Georgia and some of the most beautiful views anywhere. There are numerous other golf courses available a short drive away, including Kingwood Resort in Clayton, and The Orchard near Clarksville, Ga.
