The name Topanga was given by a Native American tribe and means “a place above”. In the 1920s, Topanga Canyon became a weekend getaway for Hollywood stars providing both privacy and attractive surroundings for the rich and famous. Topanga Canyon encompasses the land of the Topanga State Park, which is the largest park in the Santa Mountains. It is one of the most well preserved, vast and open spaces within a city context. Nestled in the Santa Monica mountains is where you will find this bohemian town. A short 8-minute drive down the road will lead you to the most breath-taking Malibu beaches. Shorter drives within the canyon will lead you to lovely hikes overlooking the elegant scenery of Los Angeles. Topanga is an inspiring place, filled with artists, musicians, writers and more. Away from all the tourism, a visitor is granted access to one of the least known, yet most loved nooks in the Los Angeles county. As relaxing as your stay in Topanga will be, it is open to all sorts of experiences, including romantic retreats, vacation spots, or even a small weekend getaway. A complete nature experience in Los Angeles, just 20 minutes away from Santa Monica and a 15-minute drive to the Valley for convenient shopping. You can hike, mountain bike, horseback ride, relax and enjoy the stunning setting and healing energy that surrounds you. The landscape is like no other. You will not believe that this gem is part of Los Angeles. On your way to Santa Monica, you will drive along the beaches on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) passing the ocean, while seeing dolphins & seals basking in the sun and glistening water. Even as a visitor, Topanga will feel like a home away from home. Topanga experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers. The average monthly temperature is 71.6 Fahrenheit (22.0 Celsius). Topanga has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. Das Gasthaus is featuring amazing views in a quite, serene environment, close to everything Topanga has to offer. It is a modern studio apartment on the lower level of our property. It accommodates 4 people comfortably, with two bedrooms, 3 beds (2 twin size & 1 queen size) and 1 bathroom. The space includes one big room, one small room, a fully equipped bathroom and a kitchen with: a kitchenette, a refrigerator, a freezer compartment, stove top, and a microwave with an integrated oven. There is a Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee :) Table and chairs can be found inside and outside. There is a lot of outdoor space and a spacious outside sitting area as well. Kids are welcome to use the trampoline.The bedding is European style with duvet covers instead of sheets & duvet covers. I find it more comfortable and more hygienic. This way the covers get sanitized in a high temperature wash each time. Pillows and comforters are organic.Pets are ok as long as they are kid friendly. We do have 1 white rescue dog from Malaysia named Miri in the main house. TV: Hulu, Netflix, etc.Bed and Bath Essentials: towels, bed sheets, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, hangers, hairdryer. If you would like to use the washer and dryer there will be an additional cost. Kitchen: all basic utensils, sugar, salt, pepper, oil etc.Family features: highchair You have access to a trampoline. The guesthouse is literally in the heart of nature, so please be aware of the occasional animal visitor in the garden. Also, please do not leave food out so the ants do not invade!
