Just across the highway is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which offers a number of hiking trails with sweeping views and a native plant botanical Garden. Less than a half hour from Marfa and Alpine, the "Rock House" is a perfect home base for exploring nearby attractions or attending a Star Party at McDonald Observatory - or for simply enjoying the property's quiet natural beauty.
