Our Side of Heaven Cabin- Ride the Dragon, w/Hot Tub, Private Lake and Ponds Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. We welcome you to our beautiful mountain log cabin surrounded by trees. Just down the hill is a private pond, or visit the community lake. Relax around the cabin or visit the Great Smoky Mountains Park. You can hike from the cabin or take a short drive to the motor entrance via the beautiful Foothills Parkway. Look Rock is 1.2 miles from the cabin. Enjoy the evening in the rocking chair, listening to the crickets. We have all the essentials to prepare family meals or pack a picnic. Other things to note:We are pet-friendly. Please disclose all pet information. Well-behaved pets will be welcomed. We ask that shedding pets please bring pet owners who like to clean. We have an enclosed pet yard. Some information about area activities will help you consider what you want to do and see during your visit. Of course, doing nothing is always fabulous at the cabin! There is a lot to do and see in the area. We are in a homeowners association that would give you access to 3 ponds and Lake in the Sky. We are within walking distance from Holiday Hills Pond in the Top of the World Community. You can use our canoe on the pond. The Lake has a park and beach. We are one mile from Look Rock trail and the picnic area. Look Rock has two viewing platforms, one right by the parking lot up some stairs. The other is on a trail that will take about an hour to hike in and out. We are one mile from Foot Hills Parkway, with many observation pull-offs. We are 15 minutes from the famous road, The Dragon Rt 129. We are 25 minutes from the nearest motor entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park via Townsend. We are on the Cades Cove side, the west side of the Park. The Park has many waterfalls, hiking trails, and historic sights. You can find all these things on a map. All are viewable in the National parks. gov / Great Smoky Mountain National Park map, except the Dragon. You might have to find that on a regular map. but all the trails, Lake in the Sky and Look Rock, are on the park map.National parks. gov / Great Smoky Mountain National Park map,Also, we are within 20 minutes from Townsend, Maryville, and Tallassee.; You can check Trip Advisor for things to do in these small towns. Townsend is very cool. Elvira's, The Social, The Abbey, Steak and Trout, and more are places to eat. Townsend has an IGA grocery store. Maryville is a bigger town that is good for groceries and a bunch of restaurants. There are two great 50-style burger joints there and BBQ. There is a Walmart supercenter in Maryville. Alcoa has Walmart and Aldi. Townsend has three swinging bridges, and you will drive through there on the way to the Park, so they are cool quick stops.Rain day activities include Tuckaleechee Caves in Townsend, the train museum in Townsend, and the Cades Cove Museum in Maryville. The rain may not last all day. There is a skylift in Wears Valley, Harper Brothers Mountain, and horseback riding. Some waterfalls, like Meigs Falls and the Sinks, are easily seen from the park road. There are many more waterfalls. Just use the park information to see how long a hike is. Use the mile markers on the map but not in the Park to help you locate things. A good GPS can tell you what mile you are at, but load it before you go while on Wi-Fi. Bring a picnic lunch. In Cades Cove, pick a couple of stops. Trying to see all the cabins might be too much. The Visitors Center in Cades Cove is a good one. The Mill and homesteads with multiple buildings are my favorites. We are VERY close to the park border, so bears are in the area.--Do not leave food outside or in your car.--Wash grill after use.Use of the property is at your own risk. You are responsible for your risk and that of your guests and family when using the property, including but not limited to the hot tub, lofts, stairs, deck, swing, canoe, fireplace, grill, and fire pit.
