Louis Tomlinson was arrested following an incident at Los Angeles airport over the weekend, which saw him get into a physical fight with paparazzi and fans.

The 25-year old sensation was arrested and then released on bail following the heated brawl with a photographer and two female fans in LAX arrivals.

The former One Direction star claims he was protecting girlfriend Eleanor Calder, with the pair landing in L.A after a holiday in Las Vegas.

Video footage which has been released by Radar Online shows the ‘Just Hold On’ singer in an altercation with a photographer who is trying to take pictures of him and his girlfriend.

And whilst he is pushing the cameraman away, it becomes apparent that Eleanor has been targeted by two fans who are trying to film the incident.

Louis is then seen running over to protect Eleanor and pushing the girls out of the way, leading to a further scuffle with onlookers and airport staff as people try to step in and break up the fight.

A source close to the pop star revealed,

The video from the incident shows what really happened and tells the story. He is adamant everything he did was to protect his girlfriend and that is what he has been telling his friends.

Tomlinson can be heard shouting,

 Excuse me what is happening here? What the hell is happening? Can we have some help?

This is before he runs over to Calder’s aid and pulls several people away from her saying ‘that’s my girlfriend’.

The 25-year old star’s lawyer, Martin Singer, released a statement regarding the commotion, stating,

The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis at the airport this morning. This is not the first or last time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity.

He continued,

While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during the incident and he came to her defence.

Radar Online published the video which shows the event unfold and a very angry and upset Louis trying to deal with the situation.

This was before the police stepped in and arrested him for ‘simple battery’.

Louis was given $20,000 bail and is set to appear in court on March 29 regarding the airport bust up.
