You may have seen Little Mix debut the first single from their new album Glory Days on last weekend’s X Factor results show. The smash hit: Shout Out To My Ex went straight to number 1 and we’ve not heard the end of the drama spiralling from it since.

According to some fans and American girl band G.R.L, Shout Out To My Ex sounds exactly like their hit Ugly Heart. Whilst the songs have distinct similarities, we wouldn’t say that the girls plagiarised G.R.L at all.

Well, finally the Little Mix girls have addressed the issue whilst in Belgium promoting their new single.

Speaking to Belgian radio show Qmusic, Jade took the plunge and gave their side of the story:

“Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies.

It happens all the time. It doesn’t mean that they’re not both incredible songs.
I think maybe because it was a girl band as well. I just think people like to have something negative to say.”
The show’s host then proceeded to play both the songs together and they were all in agreement that they are completely different. Leigh-Anne added that Ugly Heart sounds a lot more ‘country’ then Shout Out To My Ex.
Perrie then jumped in stating: ‘I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon’ with Jesy then taking it one step further, blurting out “Stop trying to get publicity!” what a shocker!
Regardless of whether you think the G.R.L girls were within their rights to doubt Little Mix’s song or you agree with Jade that they all have similarities when it comes down to it, we’re glad that our beloved LM remained cool, calm, collected and most importantly real about the matter. You go girls!
