We know, we can’t quite believe it either, but there is an actual way to ensure that you’re not sitting there in a bubble of uncomfortable silence on your dinner date.
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology, psychologists from University of Chicago found that simply ordering the same meal as your date is an extremely effective way to break down barriers and build trust.
Researchers have explained that having the same meal actually creates a shared experience which can act as a ‘social lubricant’ that makes it easier for you both to connect!
So, next time you’re at a fancy restaurant or, let’s be more realistic – at nandos, why not tactically go for the same meal and spiciness as your date and see if it really does work.
You might have to take one for the team if they’ve got tastebuds of steel and go for extra hot but it’s all in the name of love, right?
If you find ‘the one’ make sure we get an invite to the wedding!
