The Notebook just came to life in the most heartwarming way possible. Two high school sweethearts, who were married for 58 years, died together side by side holding hands.
George and Ora Lee Rodriguez passed away just three hours apart, in their home in San Antonio and the whole world is in awe of their epic love story.
Both had previously been diagnosed with dementia but it was a stroke that caused George to die in his sleep and Ora Lee passed away three hours later.
Fittingly, it was the week after their 58th wedding anniversary and they were surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The couple’s daughter Corina Martinez said, ‘I just can’t believe something like this would ever happen, you hear this on the movies, like The Notebook, but you just don’t expect it to pan out like that in reality.
‘We had them here at the house, in their hospital beds, right beside each other. They were holding hands.’
While the family are now grieving the loss of both of their amazing parents, it is safe to say they are all thankful that both of them died peacefully together and neither of them had to suffer the heartbreak of being without the other.
If ever there was proof that true love exists, this is definitely it.
